Everything Looks Familiar.

I'm sure some of you would think my blog name sounds familiar -- and you would be right. I took a looooooong ass hiatus from my blog (of the same name) and couldn't find the energy to come back. I think I posted a January 2020 beginning of the year post, then promptly lost inspiration and drive. Then Covid hit, lost my job, and at that point, everything seemed insignificant and well, pointless. Especially since my host over at WordPress had so much problems and I just didn't have the energy to work on it. So I let it expire.

I was off for 3 months; rarely read, spent time with my kids, and took some much needed time to work on myself. And here we are. Hoping to get my feet back in the game. My ultimate goal for restarting this blog is for me to establish a much needed outlet. To talk about books, about my life, about current events. About anything that comes to mind. Because now, more than ever, we all need to find a safe place for us to  talk about things that are weighing heavily on our minds.

But for those of you who don't know me, I've been blogging since 2011 -- mostly about books. I'm a mom with two teens, a wife to my wonderful husband of 21 years. I've always been a reader. For the last few years, I've averaged about 170-200 books per year. I read just about anything except for high fantasy. I consider Melina Marchetta as my literary goddess. Her books is the life force that sustains my reading life.  Lately, I've been getting into memoirs of political figures. Also, non fiction about racial and social issues. I consider M/M romance genre a guilty pleasure and my Kindle holds all my secrets, so it's off limits.

I would like to continue to expand my reading horizon. Especially to read about topics that I find uncomfortable. I would also like to blog about topics that I find near and dear to my heart. Whatever they may be at any given time. I don't want to be limited, and I especially wouldn't care if no one will read my posts. Ultimately, my goal is create an online journal. A place where I can feel truly myself without fear of judgement.

So this site is a work in progress. It's been awhile since I worked in Blogger, so don't be surprised if you see things change from time to time. Thank you for your patience. And I hope you'll enjoy your time here.

Happy Reading!

  1. It is good to see you are back, Joy! I am glad that you took the time off that you needed. I hope things are looking a bit up for you.
