May 2021 Rewind: I Read A Total of 31 Books

Hello, Friends.

I hope you're all having a great week. Today is a rewind of May, which was a whirlwind of a month. I read a total of 32 books and pretty sure absorbed more unread books so my TBR grew leaps and bounds. Sigh. I'm still loving my pace and my Goodreads 2021 Reading Goal stands at 139/150. I did post my Mid Month Update, which shows the first 19 books I read.

T H E  R E S T  O F  M A Y

  1. Long Bright River by Liz Moore. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.  I posted a review of this book here yesterday.
  2. The Soulmate Equation by Christina Lauren. ⭐⭐⭐⭐.  It's been a while since I've enjoyed a Christina Lauren work, so thank goodness!
  3. Sweet Talk by Cara Barstone. ⭐⭐⭐⭐. This is a free one on Audible. I'm a new fan of Ms. Barstone, so one of these days, I will try to gobble up her back list.
  4. Call Me Maybe by Cara Barstone. ⭐⭐⭐⭐. This is a re-listen. Still freaking good the second time around.
  5. The Code Breaker by Isaac Walterson. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐. Y'all know how much I loved this one. Read my review here.
  6. Junk Boy by Tony Abott ⭐⭐⭐⭐. This is a written in verse novel about a boy who lives in a junk yard. He's had such a tough life and basically just clings to whatever normalcy he can find. Such a sad novel.
  7. Tender is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica. ⭐⭐⭐  I don't even want to revisit this book, but you can read my review here
  8. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco. ⭐⭐⭐.  I feel so-so about this book. I'm not sure if I'm going to continue.
  9. Love Lives Here by Amanda Jette Knox. ⭐⭐⭐⭐. This is a memoir about a family who went through several upheavals about gender. Enjoyed this one.
  10. Fangs by Sarah Andersen ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐   This was soo stinking cute. It's a graphic novel about the romance between a vampire and a werewolf.
  11. Swimming in the Dark by Thomas Jedrowski ⭐⭐⭐⭐. This is a Historical Fiction about two men who fell in love back in Russian-occupied Poland. Review to come.
  12. The Honey Don't List by Christina Lauren. ⭐⭐⭐. This was just horribly annoying.
  13. Tunnel of Bones by Victoria Schwab ⭐⭐⭐⭐.  Really enjoying this MG series by Victoria Schwab. I can't wait to read the third book!
As of this writing, I have no TBR set in place for June. I still have a few leftovers from April and May, so I think I'm going to keep working on that. This weekend, I worked on shelving a bunch of my books that I've read in the last couple of months and see how massive my TBR has grown since the beginning of the year. Let's just say, I don't want to count how many. Lol. I do, however want to read a classic for sure. I started reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy, I'll let you know how it goes. I'm actually excited to tackle it even though it's quite a chunker.

Anyway, that's my update for May. I hope you had a great month as well. Let me know how your month went.

Happy Reading!

  7. I am always impressed by the sheer volume of reading you get done every month. Absolutely amazing. I don't think I'll be reading the stalking jack the ripper series as it sounds too mediocre for me. I do want to read tender is the flesh though, and as a horror lover I think I will like some of the creepy aspects.

  8. LONG BRIGHT RIVER is a tough read, but I liked it. I'm with you on STALKING JACK THE RIPPER. I haven't continued with the series.

  9. I am very happy for and jealous of your prolific reading lol

I'm lucky if I get through 1-2 per month now. I used to read between 20-30.

But I know you had a long dry spell too and you came back so maybe there's hope!
